Reviving a Dallas Tradition

This year, for the 100th anniversary of the Feast of Christ the King, we revive the Dallas tradition of a diocesan-wide procession. In years past, tens of thousands of Catholics processed through the heart of the city as a sign of unity and an opportunity for prayer.

We will start at St. Jude Chapel and process by parish to the Cathedral. The sermon will be delivered by the Rev. James Yamauchi, followed by adoration and benediction.

Order of Events

  1. 2:00 p.m.Gather for procession
  2. 2:30 p.m.Procession to National Cathedral Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe
  3. Sermon
  4. Adoration
  5. 4:15 p.m.Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart
  6. 4:20 p.m.Benediction

What to Bring

Wear your Sunday best and prepare to process with your fellow parishioners! Students should wear their school uniforms. Those with papal orders should wear their proper uniforms.

If you have a parish or organization (e.g. KofC) banner, bring it and carry it proudly!

From the archive Auxiliary Bishop Augustine Danglmayr, kneeling in center, gives the benediction with the Blessed Sacrament in the Feast of Christ the King at old Jesuit High School (at Oak Lawn and Blackburn). There are approximately 10,000 Catholics in attendance. Rev. Robert Rehkemper is on the Bishop's left; to the Bishop's right is Fred Moseman. See photos from past processions →
